Our experience in major projects such as Sun City, the Durban Beachfront upgrades, Moses Mabhida Stadium and numerous prominent private residences has rendered us experts in the sourcing, supply and relocation of large mature trees. Instant trees add years of value and an air of establishment to any home or facility, with our past projects standing testament.

The Tree Transplanting Process

Moving large trees requires tried and tested techniques. The plants are dug carefully by hand so as to minimise root damage, the ‘root ball’ is carefully shrink-wrapped to retain parent soil & moisture, avoiding the plant experiencing shock. Thereafter plants are pruned and a certain portion of leaves removed to prevent wilting and water loss by transpiration during transport and reestablishment. Leaves are tied up and sometimes wrapped should the type of transport and distance require. We have experience transplanting multiple species of plants, trees and palms and can advise clients on those which take well to this treatment. From single feature trees in private gardens to large installations for hotels and shopping centres, we offer a one-stop solution.

Project Profile

Private Residence, Sheffield Beach

Our client had constructed a magnificent new home in Birdhaven Estate, Sheffield Beach. Following construction completion, the recently disturbed site was raw and its recent sands soil susceptible to erosion. By installing a number of large trees along with under-story plants, and meandering paths, the property was transformed from bare earth to lush paradise in months rather than years with the mature trees delivering both privacy and an air of establishment to this grand design.

 Project Profile

Private Residence, Izinga Ridge, Umhlanga Rocks

Under a turnkey agreement to provide the complete landscaping works for this premier home on uMhlanga's Ridge, a number of large trees & cycads were supplied & installed. Ballito Landscapers sourced the specific species which suited this exclusive residence, providing privacy from the public eye whilst maintaining the commanding views. Permits & Micro-chipping are required for the stock holding, transport and ownership of certain endangered plant species such as cycads, a process in which we are well versed.

Project Profile

Private Residence, Simbithi Eco-Estate, Ballito

When planning a general garden makeover for this private home our client expressed a need for shade over his driveway. With this in mind we sourced, supplied and installed a large Natal Fig (Ficus natalensis) for the entrance to their property. This resilient endemic species will provide year round shade and food for a variety of birdlife.
